Kibera is East Africa's largest informal settlement, and has a long and interesting history. Your guide, Ochi, a former professional footballer, is well known throughout Kibera; he was born there and knows the place inside out.
You will meet Ochi at the Prestige Plaza shopping mall (Ngong Road), and from there you will walk to Kibera, while Ochi explains some basic rules for going into the slum (it's not dangerous, but it's good to know some basic do's and don'ts).
Ochi will take you through Kibera's network of narrow alleys, tell you about its history, and with him you'll find out firsthand how the local people live, as you will visit some homes and meet the locals. Or if you like, you could visit a local art studio, a shop, or a bar or restaurant. There will be a stop for tea or a soda, and at the end of the tour Ochi will walk you back to the shopping mall.
