Once at the canyon's mouth, the hike begins. The red canyon walls stretch over 100 -feet high on either side, with a gap of only 6-10 feet between the walls to hike through. Led by a guide and local expert, the tour continues on foot through the canyon while learning about Native American history and geographical information. This tour is specific for groups that do not desire to climb, and when the canyon gets too difficult the group will hike back to the UTV and travel to a separate slot canyon and explore the bottom section of it as well.

First we wind through the pine forest reaching a stunning view of Checkerboard Mesa. Next onto a rugged descent of several hundred feet into Jolley Gulch where we make our second stop. Here you can take an optional two minute unguided hike to see a top down view of the Jolley Gulch slot canyon that reaches 200 feet down into its narrow canyon walls. We then climb our way out, crossing the the river bed several times as we work our way back on top of the Ponderosa plateau and back home.
