Shark Bay is a coastal park on the northern shore of Tortola, the largest of the British Virgin Islands. Established in 1999, it is one of the newest national parks in the region. Lying just east of Brewer’s Bay, it extends from the ridge of Anderson Point to the base of Mount Healthy. 18.4 acres On this hiking trail, we will discover a variety of landscapes in Shark Bay. Highly rewarding hike uses a bush trail that winds up Mount Alma, the 736ft hill looming over Trellis Bay and Bluff Bay on Beef Island. Label as one of the best 360 view in the British Virgin Islands. In past years, a spring was present flowing from the mountain while parts of the mountain was use for cattle. These days it’s occasionally used by technicians maintaining an airport navigation light up there, and occasionally by hikers like us. In 2017 the trail was destroyed by hurricane Irma with fallen trees and land slides. In 2020 our team of three cleared and create a new trail all the way to the top! Now we can enjoy this hidden gem!
